MTV Casting for Documentary

MTV is currently casting an upcoming series focusing on young women during their pregnancy. As we realize that this is a sensitive subject that many of our young women are experiencing, our goal is to show what pregnant women, from varying backgrounds, are experiencing in their everyday lives.

From morning sickness to mood swings, and to even the day of the baby's arrival, we would like you to let us document this exciting, life changing event. This show will allow young women to share their story in their own voice.

As time is of the essence, please email me ASAP at Sandra.Phillippeaux@mtvnmix.com.
Please include what state you are in, your contact details, a picture and why you would want to take part in the series.

FILMMAKERS STUDIO - The Kentucky Film Lab

The Kentucky Film Lab (KFL) is NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS for its fall Filmmakers Studio to be held September 26-27, 2008 in Louisville, Kentucky during the 2008 IdeaFestival.

The KENTUCKY FILM LAB is a non-profit initiative dedicated to energizing the cinematic arts community in Kentucky and elsewhere with new ideas for collaboration, education, distribution and production.

The Filmmaker's Studio is an intensive, 2-day, hands-on workshop for emerging and experienced filmmakers and screenwriters. Participants will work directly with industry professionals and may select to specialize in screenwriting, advanced screenwriting or production. Networking between filmmakers from the Midwest, New York and Hollywood is emphasized.

Special guests include:

  • Jack Epps, Jr.: Screenwriter of hits such as TOP GUN, and Chair of the Writing Division at the University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts.
  • Anna Richardson: The Coordinator of Special Projects at Miramax New York
  • Jason Epperson: This Kentucky filmmaker was the runner-up on the Fox/Steven Spielberg reality series "On the Lot."

This year's programs:

General Session:
In the morning sessions, through interactive sessions, panel discussions and hands-on learning experiences involving successful film professionals and educators, participants will gain an overview and solid understanding of the critical elements involved in successful film development and production.

In the afternoon, PRODUCTION TRACK participants will explore the essential elements of film production by rotating through four 2-hour hands-on sessions in PRODUCING, LIGHTING, CINEMATOGRAPHY and DIRECTING. A group of select industry advisors will work with the participants at each station.

The 2008 Kentucky Film Lab Filmmakers Studio is offering two new SCREENWRITING workshops

1. THE ADVANCED FEATURE SCREENWRITING WORKSHOP
Make a good script great

The Advanced Feature Workshop is for writers with existing screenplays, of any length, in which scripts will be evaluated by KFL faculty and participating students in a seminar setting.

This class is limited to the first 20 writers who register and submit an original, formatted screenplay. Registration and submission of screenplays must be completed by August 15 for reading prior to the fall studio in September. All scripts will be distributed to faculty and students electronically in PDF format. As this will be a participation-driven workshop, students must read and prepare notes for each workshop script before the Studio begins. Material may include short films, television scripts and full-length features, in standard screenplay format.

 2. PAGE ONE - Screenwriting from the First Draft
Good stories, well told.

The big idea. The hook. Compelling characters. Original plot. The pitch. This second new offering is vital for writers of all levels to develop the heart of their next screenplay. This hands-on seminar will help participants understand the fundamentals of the critical early stages of the first draft. Writers need to bring their ideas and their imaginations to this participation workshop.
